Stu’s simple planning tool

by Stuart on 26 August 2010

Hey, this is a busy week, so yet another post.

Today’s topic is the simple planning tool. There are those projects that require the ‘big tools’, but there are some that are smaller and simpler and they don’t really need the sledgehammer approach.

I’ve managed quite a few that fall into this category, and I developed a simple tool to help me put a plan and a budget together. It forms part of one of my project management courses, and I decided to share it with the world. (Is there no end to my generosity? Well, yes there is actually, but it hasn’t happened yet)

Anyway, back to the point. The tool is a spreadsheet which allows you to put a simple plan together, add some resource, some costs, and then show you how the money pans out.

You can find the tool on this page, together with a ‘how to do it’ document.

Feel free to use it, hack it about to suit your requirements. And let me know how you get on.
